If you are an adult who cannot swim, for what ever reason,

this is the class for you!

”I’ve always had a healthy fear of water. I can even remember family photos of me as a kid, clutching to my mother for dear life in water that only went up to her waist… keep in mind that my mother is just over 5 feet tall.
Well, I’m over 6 feet tall now, but for the first couple of swim sessions, I was just as nervous about trying to swim as those days when I was a kid (I couldn’t even splash water in my face without panicking). But something “clicked” after my third session, and this has become one of the activities that I look forward to doing every week. You couldn’t ask for a better group of instructors who are professional, patient, and make the learning how to swim as pleasant of an experience as possible. It’s a no-pressure, and relaxing environment, so there’s no embarrassment. It’s just you, the instructors and other adults who are learning how to swim.
I could go on about how much I like this program, but will wrap it up by saying that I would highly recommend this class to any adult who wants to learn how to swim, but might be afraid.” Eric Andrews

Using our Positive Outcome methods, you will learn to swim, or your entire fee is refunded, guaranteed. Please read this entire course description prior to calling The Swim School.

Positive Outcome Method

When you begin your swim lessons you are in water so shallow (4 feet) you can stand up if you so choose. Initially, we provide and fit you with a FREE Beginner’s Safety Vest (BSV). Using a fully inflated BSV, means you cannot sink, like training wheels on a bicycle.

Next in our Positive Outcome Method, with the confidence that you cannot sink, we will teach you to use your arms and legs for propulsion. To aid in the effectiveness of using your legs, fins are worn, like training wheels on a bicycle.

Vision is important when learning to swim with the Positive Outcome Method, thus a swim mask is worn, like training wheels on a bicycle. Now you have a confidence level like never before.

We want you to focus on your arm and leg movements prior to mastering breathing. The Positive Outcome Method incorporates use of a snorkel to make it easy to breath while learning your strokes. Like training wheels on a bicycle.

As you progress at your own pace, you will soon be able to start releasing some of the air from the BSV. In time, at your own pace, you will begin to remove the training wheels, one at a time, until you are swimming independently. Positive Outcome!

The Paul Oberle Method:
In 1969, Paul began developing his method of teaching swimming to adults. Paul found that many of his students who wanted to learn to scuba could not swim. The early days of scuba did not include equipment such as inflatable vests, therefore swimming skill requirements were much more rigid. Paul discovered that by initially putting a non-swimmer in vest, mask, snorkel, and fins to develop their confidence, and then reversing the process and removing the equipment one piece at a time, a person learned to swim with confidence.
You will begin by wearing a Beginner’s Safety Vest (BSV) (you cannot possibly sink) while learning the freestyle and many more in-water techniques. You’ll be amazed as your confidence builds.
In addition to Paul’s unorthodox swim teaching methods, he is known as The Father of Scuba Rangers, a scuba program for children ages 8 – 12, a Pro 5000 Diver, Scuba Schools International Instructor Certifier #6278, Professional Association of Dive Instructors Instructor Emeritus #M1210, and National Association of Underwater Instructors Instructor Emeritus #3112. Paul is a retired Captain of the Shreveport Fire Department dive team, and is a Deputy Marshal with the Bossier City Marshal’s Office. Recently Paul was featured in the book Diving With Legends.
