The official charity of The Swim School and Swim Schools International is the Special Olympics. At The Swim School we take pride in teaching and training athletes to compete in area and state aquatics meets.
The Special Olympics was started over 40 years ago and aquatics was one of the first sports for athletes to compete in. It was started in the backyard of Eunice Shriver and is now worldwide. The World Games was in the Summer of 2011 in Athens, Greece. Over 17,000 athletes competed from 170 countries.
The Special Olympics helps to provide confidence and life skills to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Through this program, athletes make friends, learn the importance of team work and leadership and sportsmanship. We are proud to be a part of such a wonderful organization.
All of our teachers are certified Special Olympic coaches. We also have two certified Special Olympics trainers on our crew. Miss Elaine has held six training sessions that has qualified her as a National Special Olympics Aquatics Trainer.
The Swim School also donates and volunteers at local and state Special Olympic events.
