Classes – only 30 minutes required

The many different class levels that are offered at The Swim School are the result of more than 40 years of experience in aquatic education!
One of these class levels is sure to be perfect for your child. However, since your child is unique, be sure to communicate with his Teacher and Deck Manager regularly, to insure that we are meeting the specific needs of your child. Classes are usually 30 minutes, once a week.

Make sure you have booked your child in a class that fits your schedule.  Please understand that the teacher is there and paid to teach your child, even if you do not come to class.  We strive to maintain consistency for our students.  There are, however, situations that require a change in teachers, classmates, or schedules.  We will do everything possible to make transitions smooth for your child.

Please Stay During Lessons

We require that the child’s caregiver not leave during lessons. We rely on you in case of an emergency or a necessary bathroom break for your child. Safe supervision of your child is a problem if parents are not present when swim class is over. We rely on the parents to keep their children safe in our facility before and after lessons.

Withhold Judgement

We ask you to withhold judgment until your swimmer is well into his/her lessons. Our classes are fun, interesting, and move quickly in order to retain the child’s attention. The Swim School teachers use the "GOLD SCRIPT©" to move from one skill to the next so slowly and mixed with rewards, praise and love progress is often not apparent to the caregiver for some number of lessons. We are confident that you will be delighted with our proven results.

Consistent Teaching

Should a teacher have to miss a class, all are trained with and use the “GOLD SCRIPT©”. Your swimmer will receive consistent instruction.

Deckside Visit At The End Of Class

The last few minutes of every class are devoted to demonstrating to parents the goals and skills of the lesson. This close-up view of your child’s last turn as well as the teacher’s explanation of each day’s goals will help to keep you informed of your child’s progress in lessons.

Changing Room

Changing rooms are provided at the facility. Private changing areas and bathrooms are available as well as baby changing tables. Please remove gum and band-aids from child. Please supervise your child in the changing room for his own safety.

Bathroom Use

You can help us keep the water clean and healthy by having your child stop by the bathroom before he starts his lessons. Not only will that prevent accidents in the pool, but, it will keep him from missing part of his lesson, should he need to visit the bathroom in the middle of class. Our bathrooms and dressing rooms are tended to hourly.

What To Bring On The First Day Of Lessons

All your child needs on the first day of lessons is a swimsuit and a towel; A large beach bag would be handy. Older children will want a pair of swim goggles after they get comfortable with their lessons. Swimsuits, towels, swim pants, goggles, and other swim gear are available for purchase.

Swim Pants

Fecal contamination in or around a pool poses a serious health risk to all using the facility.  When an accident occurs, we are forced to shut down operations for an extended period of time to properly clean and sanitize our facility.  We are trying to reduce the spread of disease and inconvenience to swimmers whose lessons are cancelled.  For the health and safety of our swimmers and teachers, please heed the following guidelines.

Children UNDER FOUR YEARS OLD are required to wear reusable swim pants.  Due to the failure of disposable swim diapers to work effectively, we must require only reusable, Health Department approved, swim pants in our pool.
The Swim School provides a wide selection of swim pants for sale in our retail area.  Some styles fit under your child’s swimsuit and other styles ARE your child’s swimsuit.  We are experts at fitting swim pants.  Please do not buy a size for your child to “grow into.”  The elastic legs must be tight enough to contain an accident.  Please arrive a few minutes early to purchase your child’s swim pants.

Class Start Time

Please arrive a few minutes early.
Please remind your child not to run on our wet decks and keep an eye on her until she safely reaches her class and has the supervising attention of his teacher. Please sit on the benches provided on deck in your child’s class area. Hooks and bins are provided for storing your “beach bags,” purses and towels off the pool deck.
Parents of Waterbabies are encouraged to take their valuables out on deck during lessons. Parents must give their babies to a teacher or assistant to hold the baby while they enter and exit the pool. For the safety of both parents and babies, we want your hands free as you go up and down the ladder. Your teacher will assist with your child.

Make-Up Policy

In order to maintain the integrity of our classes regarding content, size, consistency, and progression, we do not offer make-ups or refunds for missed lessons. We have found that adding children to classes for make-ups disrupts the rhythm of the class. Please do your best to attend your scheduled classes. Instead, The Swim School, LLC will extend one $15 credit to any child who misses class due to illness. That $15 credit can be used for lessons, special events, or in the pro shop. A doctor’s note will be required to receive this credit. Extraordinary and extended illnesses will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
