Learn to Swim

Choosing a class for your swimmer is based on many factors including age, ability, temperament, group dynamics, and teacher/class availability. Children develop different cognitive and motor skills at different times. Some children are fast learners and some require more practice. Our goal is to match swimmers of similar ages and similar abilities so that no child feels they are the “slow” person in the class. Choosing the right class is a team effort that includes input from parents, children, our Teachers, and our experienced office team.

“Thank you to Ms Taylor and The Swim School for your fantastic customer service. You truly made not only my daughter’s experience in the water an enjoyable one, but also provided a very safe environment for learning. We will absolutely be repeat customers!”

AQUATIKES 1 – 3 year olds – class size = 3

A program designed specifically for three year olds with little or no water experience. Themes and games enhance the learning to swim experience. The goal of this class is to swim seven feet with Reach and Pull arms and back float independently.

AQUATIKES II & III – 3 year olds – class size = 4

This class is for three year olds who already swim seven feet on top of the water. Again, themes and games entertain these children while they learn to swim the width of the pool (25 feet) by using their arms and legs, rollover to get a breath, then swim to the destination.

PRESCHOOL 1 – Ages 4 – 5   class size = 3

This class is for preschoolers who cannot swim. Themes and games create fun-filled lessons for learning how to swim ten feet while getting an independent rollover breath.

PRESCHOOL 2 – Ages 4-5 – class size = 4

This class is for 4 and 5 year olds who already swim ten feet on top of the water. The goal of this class is to swim the width of the pool (25 feet) while getting an independent rollover breath breath, then swim to the destination.

BEGINNERS I – Ages 6+ – class size = 3

A class for six year olds and up who do not swim. Swimmers learn a relaxed, effective stroke for swimming the width of the pool (25 feet) while rollover breathing.

BEGINNERS II – Ages 3+ – class size = 4

A class for children who already swim 25 feet on top of the water. The goal of this class is to teach the student to swim about 50 feet (the length of our pool) getting independent rollover breaths.

BEGINNERS III -Ages 4+

A class for children who already swim the length of the pool. The goal of this class is to teach the swimmer to perform rolling breaths (the next level begins the 4 competetive strokes) while swimming the length of our pool. Additionally, the Elementary Backstroke, a classic resting stroke, is taught.  Standing dives are an added skill.
“I am grateful I was able to convince my daughter to try swimming lessons again. After failed attempts in other classes she had lost her confidence due to the lack of training other instructors had in the past. We will definitely continue her swim training with The Swim School.”
